In 1946, twenty-year-old Arthur Sugarman left his hometown of Brighton to follow his dreams. Boarding a ship he set sail on a transatlantic adventure to North America where he lived and worked hard for 17 years in the hopes of making his fortune. Fast forward to 1962, Arthur returned to England, brimming with ideas, he also now went by the name, Ben Sherman, an abbreviated nick-name fondly given to him over the years by his American family.

Returning to England, Ben immediately focused on one ambitious project which would, in turn, revolutionise the British menswear shirt industry and become the company we know today. Through his attention to detail, innovative patterns and designs, his fledgling business venture was destined for success. Today, there are over five decades of original designs in the archives to draw inspiration from, and this particular 80s classic is a real gem.

The Benjamin pays homage to Ben Sherman's determination to source new and exciting fabrics each season. Originally produced in the 1980s, the Benjamin shirt incorporates an innovative weave technique which was groundbreaking for its time.

Made from premium cotton in the classic Mod fit, the Benjamin features a neat and classic three-finger button-down collar, straight hem, back box pleat and a Ben Sherman tab branded chest pocket. When re-issuing an Archive Shirt we go to great lengths to carefully select and faithfully re-create a truly timeless classic in a limited quantity. As was the tradition back then, each Ben Sherman Archive Shirt is packaged in its own special presentation box.
